Hidden River Events wedding & elopement photographer
Seventeen acres beside the Swannanoa River, with meadows, flower gardens and a peaked tent. This venue includes photography in its packages, so here is how I would fit in.
Hidden River calls itself all-inclusive, and its photography is part of the package. I want to be clear about that up front. If you book the all-inclusive route, you may already have a photographer. This page is for couples who are weighing options, or who plan to use the venue's flexibility.
The venue says it is a private 17-acre property about 15 minutes from downtown Asheville. Its ceremony sites sit beside the river, under trees, among flower gardens and in open meadows with long mountain views.

Four kinds of ceremony light
River, trees, flowers, meadow. Each one asks something different of a camera. By the river the light bounces up off the water and the background goes soft. Under big trees it is shaded and even, which flatters faces at midday. In the flower gardens color does the work. In the open meadows the sky is the backdrop and the time of day matters most.
On a venue tour, ask to stand in each site at the hour your ceremony would start. I would choose by where the sun sits, then plan portraits in a different one so your gallery has range.
Rain, tent and the long evening
The venue's FAQ gives its weather record. As of January 2025, with over 1,000 weddings, it says only 65 were affected by weather, and most of those moved into the tent. I find that reassuring. A tent wedding photographs beautifully, with warm light inside and rain sounds outside. I would plan a few umbrella frames and one sheltered, quiet moment with you in case it comes.
Music has to end by 10:30 p.m. under the sound ordinance, and guests leave the tent within 30 minutes after. So the party has a clear end, and I would plan the dance and the send-off with that clock in mind.

Elopements and tiny weddings
Hidden River lists an elopement package for 2 to 25 guests, bookable with a week's notice year-round, subject to availability. It includes chair setup, an arbor, the ceremony site, changing access and restrooms, with up to two and a half hours on the property. Photography is an optional add-on in that package.
Two and a half hours is a good length for a photo story. A quiet getting-ready, the ceremony, a river or meadow walk, a toast. I would plan a loose shot list with you in advance and leave the rest to unfold.
Bringing your own photographer
The FAQ says you can remove vendors from the Mountain Elegance or Simply Yours packages, including photography, and that the DIY package lets you choose all your own vendors. It also lists main vendors it works with. It does not publish a standalone outside photographer policy.
If you want me, ask the team how removing photography changes your package, and whether any approval or insurance steps apply. Do that before you sign, and I will gladly talk it through.

Questions
Asked and answered
Is photography included at Hidden River?
Yes, in the all-inclusive packages, according to the venue. The FAQ says you can remove it or choose the DIY package. Ask the venue exactly what its photography covers before you decide.
Can I book you for a Hidden River elopement?
Contact the venue first about adding an outside photographer to the elopement package, then tell me your date. I would plan the day around the ceremony site you choose and the time of day.
What if it rains?
The venue has a tent plan, and its FAQ says most weather-affected weddings moved into the tent. I would plan for soft, warm light inside and a few outdoor frames between showers.
