The Lake Lure Inn & Spa first opened to guests in 1927, and its own site says it combines original antiques and artwork with modern comforts. It sits across the street from Lake Lure Beach. I'm based in Asheville, so I would plan a long, unhurried schedule that does not rush the light.
What I like about this venue on paper is how many different backdrops it fits into one property. Old interiors, a terrace, a meadow, a beach. A gallery from here can have real range.

Indoors with history
The renovated Inn has a Grand Lobby with antiques and music boxes, a central Grand Staircase and stained glass windows. The inn suggests it for buffets or cocktail hours. I would use it for portraits on a rainy day or in the early part of the evening, because old wood and glass photograph warm.
Roosevelt Hall holds up to 75 guests, with eight chandeliers, 11-foot ceilings and a grand fireplace. The inn says it was once used to film Dirty Dancing. For an intimate reception it is a lovely room to photograph, with a fire to light you from the side.
Veranda, pool and lake views
The inn's most popular site combines the Tanner Dining Room, the Veranda Terrace and Poolside. It describes a Mediterranean-inspired setting for up to 215 guests, with views of Lake Lure and the mountains. A terrace with a lake view is a good place for portraits in the last hour of daylight. I would use the open sky for backlit frames and the terrace edge for quiet walking shots.
On a tour, ask where the sun sets at the hour of your ceremony in your month. I would not guess it for you. The answer decides where I put you.

The gazebo, the trolley and the beach
The inn offers a six-sided, open-air gazebo with wooden beams, rock inlays and accent lighting, and the rental includes the surrounding meadows. Gazebo ceremonies photograph well, because the posts frame the two of you and the meadow leaves room to move afterward.
The inn also has a 32-passenger historic trolley for moving guests from off-site ceremonies to the reception, horse and carriage rides back to the inn, and a welcome-party bonfire on Lake Lure Beach. That bonfire, with the beach and firelight, is a good place for a casual evening gallery the night before the wedding.
Seasons and small weddings
Summer means long light. Autumn brings color around the gorge and earlier sunsets, so a ceremony late in the day ends in the dark. In every season I would plan the timeline backward from sunset in your month.
I did not find an elopement package on the inn's events page. Roosevelt Hall holds up to 75 guests and the Powers Room up to 20 for private dining. Ask the team what a very small ceremony can look like, and whether a gazebo ceremony works with a short guest list.

Questions
Asked and answered
Does Lake Lure Inn allow outside photographers?
I did not find a photographer policy on the inn's events page. Ask the events team, or call the inn at (828) 625-2525, before you book anyone.
Where are the best portrait spots?
The gazebo and meadow, the Veranda Terrace with the lake view, and the Grand Lobby for indoor pictures. I would scout it with you first.
Can we do an elopement at Lake Lure Inn?
I could not find an elopement package on the inn's site. It has smaller spaces and a gazebo, so ask the team what a very small ceremony looks like.
